Hi, everyone — it’s Jamie. We’re honored to share the newest, and most meaningful, addition to Wisco Scents: Deidra’s Army.
This candle was created for family, for faith, and for the kind of love that shows up when life changes overnight.
In March, my cousin Deidra was diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Shortly after her diagnosis, she suffered a stroke that complicated treatment and changed the road ahead even more. Since then, Deidra has faced surgery, rehabilitation, and the overwhelming reality of navigating treatment while fighting to regain her strength and independence.
Growing up, Deidra and her sister spent weeks at a time babysitting my brother and me. Some of my favorite memories are of Deidra spending time on the farm with us — finding new kittens in the barn, teaching me about the Backstreet Boys, and making everyday moments feel special. Other times, we’d stay with Deidra and her family, where she’d bake us cookies and let me tag along with her and her friends. I always looked up to her as my older, cooler cousin — and honestly, I still do.
Creating this candle became deeply personal for me. It was a way to support someone who has always meant so much to me and to create something that reflects the strength, comfort, and love surrounding her right now.
Out of this difficult season came something incredibly powerful: Deidra’s Army. A community of people showing up with prayers, support, encouragement, and unwavering love through every setback and hard day. And through it all, Deidra's army continues to remind everyone: “No cookies for Voldemort.”
That phrase has become more than words. It’s become a reminder that fear doesn’t get the final say.
The scent itself was chosen intentionally — a calming, grounding blend of cedar musk, lavender, and wild sage. Peaceful, soft, and comforting, it was created to bring a sense of stillness during heavy moments and to remind us to slow down, breathe deeply, and hold close the people we love most.
For every Deidra’s Army candle sold, $15 will be donated directly to Deidra’s family to help with treatment, recovery, and expenses.
This candle is more than fragrance.
It’s love.
It’s community.
It’s showing up for someone when they need it most.
